La Puente is our COMMUNITY's response to address the causes and effects of poverty in the San Luis Valley. We acknowledge that education, fostering understanding, and cultivating compassion are some of the first steps to compelling people to action!
La Puente's Communications & Engagement team has facilitated workshops and presentations centered on topics of food insecurity, homelessness, financial instability, substance use, mental health, and community service.
Some recent events have included:
- An interactive exhibit about homelessness in the San Luis Valley at the Alamosa Public Library
- Serving as a panelist at on Adams State University's Advocacy Panel
- Leading a workshop with high schoolers about common stereotypes regarding homelessness
- Tabling at a elementary school's "Penny Wars" event to talk about local food insecurity
- If you are interested in hosting us, we are able to tailor the material to make sure it is age-appropriate and aligns with your group's specific interests. Fill out the form to start a conversation!
