HOPE Vigil
In honor of H.O.P.E. Week, on September 30th at 6:00 pm, a Candlelight Vigil open to the community will be hosted by La Puente. Community members are invited to gather outside of the shelter and begin a walk across downtown in solidarity with our neighbors experiencing homelessness. This walk will start outside the La Puente Shelter (913 State Ave, Alamosa) and will end around 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (715 Fourth St, Alamosa). Along the way, there will be music, speakers, and reflections. A closing message by Father Carlos and musical performance by 68 West will take place at Sacred Heart, with a reception to follow for those who are interested.
Homeless Outreach, Prevention, and Education (H.O.P.E.) Week is a series of events meant to bring the community together to learn about homelessness and poverty in the San Luis Valley. Moreover, H.O.P.E. Week highlights community-based programs that alleviate and prevent homelessness.
If you have mobility issues and would be unable to follow the walking portion of this event, please consider joining us for our beginning remarks at 6:00 pm outside of the La Puente Shelter and then directly head over to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where there will be closing performances and a reflection portion at approximately 6:40 pm.
Information about these events can be found on La Puente’s social media platforms. Feel free to call 719-589-5909 ext. 209 or email asstdirector.comm@lapuente.net for more information.
