With the object of meeting the needs of the homeless and community members in crisis, La Puente’s services both restore and strengthen people’s lives so that they can live independently with dignity. Due to the immense need, La Puente relies on a core group of committed volunteers to fulfill our mission.

Included in that are Full-Time Volunteers (aged 18+) who serve 37-40 hours per week at La Puente. Historically, Full-Time Volunteers have come to La Puente from across the state, across the country, and even across the world! Full-Time Volunteers are placed in a variety of La Puente programs depending on their skills and interests, ranging from Milagros Coffee House (a social enterprise of La Puente), to our VEGI program, to Street Outreach, and more!

La Puente’s Full-Time Volunteers experience community on many different levels as they form relationships with their housemates, co-workers, and the community as a whole.

Full-Time Volunteers experience intentional community living, working cooperatively to create a lifestyle that reflects their shared core values. United by commitment to a shared vision, group households renew and encourage each other while challenging one another to form honest and open relationships. Full-Time Volunteers are also encouraged to practice community in a larger sense as they immerse themselves in the culture of the San Luis Valley.
